The Creators

Since 2013, peace banners have been designed in workshops, and their messages are displayed at the town hall on the subsequent Peace Day.

This diverse youth art project not only involves banner creation but also encompasses graffiti, theater, readings, and music. In 2021, it grew to incorporate the Stefan Heym project “Go Your Own Way!”, which earned Gerald Richter and Marian Kretschmer the Stefan Heym Advancement Award in both 2021 and 2024.

An astonishing 3,250 meters of banners and posters have been produced over the years, with more than a hundred institutions and tens of thousands of children and young people participating. As a project of the Chemnitz 2025 European Capital of Culture, our goal is to celebrate a world record as the largest youth art project and showcase the banners on the walls of the school at Hartmannplatz.
